THE PARLOR

Baltimore, MD  |  Adaptive Reuse / 9,050 sf

Originally constructed in the 1870s, the Parlor was build as a single-family residence and later converted into a funeral home in the 1920s. It was continuously opperated as a funeral home into the 1980s. Alongside the grandeur of late 19th-century Victorian architectural details, the building’s unique history as a funeral home adds even more to its historic character. The building is also located in the geographic center of Baltimore City in one of its most vibrant, diverse, and interesting neighborhoods, the Station North Arts District, and extends to Baltimore’s Graffiti Alley.

The upper 3 floors are artist studios and workspace, and the ground floor and garage adjacent to the alley are No Land Beyond, a board-game bar/restaurant and game shop. The project goals are to enhance North Avenue, activate Graffiti Alley, and provide creative workspace in the heart of Station North.
